How to get the Scoundrel’s Leathers in Diablo 4

Leather for Hell.

Among its many other additions and improvements, Season 2 of Diablo 4 also brought with it a fresh batch of Unique items: one for each class and several for all five.

These new Uniques are some of the best options available for each class, surpassing the power level of past Uniques by a considerable margin.

One of these plucky new contenders is the Rogue’s Scoundrel’s Leathers, a Unique chest piece that pushes Inner Sight Rogue to dazzling heights. If you’re looking to grab a piece of that action, then read on to learn how to get the Scoundrel’s Leathers in Diablo 4.

How to get your hands on the Scoundrel’s Leathers in Diablo 4

As with all Uniques in Diablo 4, you’ll need to be on at least World Tier 3 before you can get the Scoundrel’s Leathers. World Tier 4 is even better, for reasons we’ll get into later, but you can encounter the Leathers starting at World Tier 3.

You can find the Scoundrels’ Leathers randomly at any point, after defeating an enemy, opening a chest, or clearing a Nightmare Dungeon. Given their high enemy density, you’re more likely to find Uniques in Blood Harvest or Helltide events than out in the overworld, and even more likely to find them in Dungeons, particularly Nightmare Dungeons.

The chances of a Unique dropping at all, never mind a specific Unique, are extremely low. Thankfully, Season 2 introduces a much more reliable way to get your hands on them.

Each of the five new endgame bosses added in Season 2 has their own pool of Unique items they can drop upon defeat, as well as a 50% chance of dropping a Unique in general. If you can defeat these mighty bosses, then this is by far the best way to acquire a specific Unique item.

In the case of the Scoundrel’s Leathers, they feature in the loot pool of Echo of Duriel, the new ‘ultimate final boss’ of the game. Summoning him is a tricky process, demanding that you reach World Tier 4 and take down two other endgame bosses multiple times to get your hands on the components, but the rewards are more than worth it, and can even include the once-inaccessible Uber-Unique items.

Once you’ve managed to claim the Scoundrel’s Leathers, you’ll be able to enjoy their immense power. While you have unlimited energy from the Inner Sight Specialization, they give your Core Skills, the bedrock of most Rogue builds, a chance to drop Caltrops, Poison Traps, or Death Traps, essentially giving you free uses of other skills just for playing with Inner Sight.

And there you have it: a full guide on how to get the Scoundrel’s Leathers in Diablo 4. They make a fine addition to pretty much any Rogue build, so if you’re lucky enough to stumble upon them in the wild, or proficient enough to beat them out of Echo of Duriel, then you should certainly take them for a spin.
