How to get the Profane Mindcage elixir in Diablo 4 Season 4

Challenge in a bottle

Ever since Season 1, Helltides have been a great place to get high-tier loot with a nice balance of risk and reward. Those rewards have been drastically improved for the new season. With this in mind, let me show you how to get the Profane Mindcage Elixir in Diablo 4 Season 4.

Where to get a Profane Mindcage Elixir in Diablo 4

Profane Mindcage Elixir’s are a guaranteed drop from Hellborne enemies in the revamped Helltide events. You’ll notice a new Threat meter on the side of the screen during Helltides, which fills up as you slay enemies. Your meter will fill faster when you defeat higher-level opponents and open Tortured Gifts

When you reach level Threat level three, you become Hell Marked, making you a target for a dense swarm of enemies. If you survive the onslaught, a Hellborne enemy will hunt you down, which should provide a decent challenge. It’s these enemies that drop the Profane Mindcage Elixir’s.

What does a Profane Mindcage Elixir do in Diablo 4?

Profane Mindcage Elixir’s boost Cinder drop rates, but there’s a catch. You’ll find more Cinders, but enemy levels increase by 10, which can dramatically raise the difficulty. Naturally, extra Cinders is good, but the boost is reserved for players who can handle the pressure.

Why can’t I participate in a Helltide in Diablo 4?

Helltides are available to everyone, but there is one stipulation. You must have finished the campaign at least once on your account. You don’t have to complete the campaign each season if you don’t want to, but it must be done once, and you can skip it for future seasons.

The only other time you won’t see a Helltide is when there isn’t one on the map. A Helltide is usually open, although there is a brief cooldown of several minutes when one closes and another opens elsewhere.

One significant change to Helltides in Season 4 is you can now access them from World Tier I when it used to be World Tier IV or higher. This tweak makes Helltides a great activity regardless of your level.

Speaking of level, you want to reach the maximum as fast as possible so you can focus on rewarding endgame activities. While you’ll level up through regular gameplay, there are faster ways to do it.
