How to get the MX Guardian Shotgun in MW2 Warzone 2

A boomstick to beat the KV Broadside?

Shotguns dominate extreme close-range combat. There’s nothing more satisfying than deleting Operators with a single well-placed shot, and the weapon type rewards skilled play… At least it did!

The KV Broadside Shotgun changed everything, offering users a full-auto fire rate with obscene lethality up close. Just in case you wanted more of that, the MX Guardian does it too! Needless to say, you need it. This is how to get the MX Guardian in MW2 and Warzone 2.

Compared to most new guns, the MX Guardian has a pretty hefty list of requirements before you can get your own. First, you need access to the appropriate sector on the Battle Pass. Fortunately, sector D0 is right by the start, and you only need to have completed one adjacent area to unlock it.

Next, you need to complete the following objectives:

  • Get 10 Operator Kills with Shotguns
  • Get 10 Hipfire Operator Kills with Shotguns
  • Get 10 Headshot Operator Kills with Shotguns
  • Get 10 One Shot Operator Kills with Shotguns
  • Earn 30 Point Blank Operator Kills with Shotguns. This 30-kill requirement only starts counting down when you’ve achieved all other objectives.

I feel like a broken record saying this, but unlocking the MX Guardian is far easier if you have MW2. Shipment 24/7 is absolutely perfect for the task, and even if you don’t like Shotguns, this should be easy. The Bryson 800 is a solid choice. Even if you’ve barely used it, the Bryson Improved Choke Muzzle is an early unlock and makes the gun delete players at stupid ranges for the weapon class.

If Shipment 24/7 isn’t available. Small maps like Shoothouse are great. If you feel like pitching a tent, you can even make Shotguns work on large maps and let other players come to you.

The odds are stacked against you in Warzone. Shotguns are unreliable, thanks to Armor, but it’s still doable. Plunder is my game mode of choice, as you can pick your starting weapon. Even if you’re unlucky, you’re bound to score at least a couple of kills each round, although you’ll need some luck for those One Shot Operator kills.

What secondary weapon should I use with the MX Guardian?

It all depends on your playstyle, but if you’re not running the Overkill Perk, you can’t go wrong with the X13 Auto. Check out our build guide for the best attachments. If you want the MX Guardian to fill more of a support role, try the ISO Hemlock. The Hemlock is a punchy Assault Rifle, and combined with the MX Guardian, you’ve got deadly options no matter the range.
