A new expansion of Destiny 2 means a new destination for Guardians to explore. The location is truly a mesmerizing place to be, but it isn’t just for the sights and scenery. Great rewards await you within The Pale Heart, so let’s find out how to get the Khvostov Exotic auto rifle in Destiny 2, as well as finding all 15 encryption bit locations.
How to get Khvostov Exotic Auto Rifle in Destiny 2
Now unfortunately, when it comes to the Exotic variation of the Khvostov no Guardians have been able to even find it, with websites like Light.gg recording 0.0% of players who have it. That being said, some extremely persistent Guardians have uncovered the solution to obtaining the Exotic Khvostov 7G-0X.
First, you must find all 8 Visions of the Traveler and place them in the Lost City, to the left of where you spawn. The location where you place them is just through a corridor on your left when you enter the Lost City, surrounded by Queensguard, Eliksni, and Cabal alike.
After you’ve placed the Visions on the pedestals, a golden regional chest will spawn in the center. Earning the Exotic version of the Khvostov also earns you the legendary version as well, which we’ll tell you how to do further below. But after you’ve grabbed the purple variant of the gun, the chest will say “You lack something.”
To be able to open the chest a second time and grab that sweet golden Exotic, you have to collect a Mote of Primordial Light, which is an Exotic item. However in order to get this super-upgraded version, you must first collect 17 Legendary Motes of Light.
Once you have all 17, return to the chest, and you’ll be able to collect the Exotic auto rifle, Khvostov 7G-0X.
Where to find Khvostov Legendary Auto Rifle in Destiny 2
When you’re going up against the Dread, you’ll need to ensure you have the best weapons you can get. Thankfully, Bungie has brought a blast from the past and reintroduced players to the Exotic auto rifle version of the very first gun in the game, the Khvostov 7G-0X. It’s been slightly tweaked in terms of its stats, as well as getting a brand-new Intrinsic ability.
And while the Legendary weapons available in The Final Shape are fairly fun, nothing beats the classics. So if you want to get your hands on the Khvostov, you’ll need to make your way to the Pale Heart, aka, inside the Traveller.
Inside the Traveller, where you first found the Khvostov weapon in D1/D2 New Light, there will be a gold chest with an encryption lock. You must find all 15 Encryption Bits to unlock the chest and get the legendary auto rifle.
Once you are in the Pale Heart, there are a few things you’ll need to do before acquiring this version of the Khvostov. First, you must complete the campaign as well as the subsequent quest line: Alone in the Dark.
Completing this quest will unlock the Cyst activities in the Pale Heart. There are nine bits from regional chests and 6 located inside the Cysts.
Destiny 2 — All 9 Regional Chest Encryption Bit locations
Let’s not waste any time: here’s how to get Encryption Bits, starting with the regional chests. Because of the sheer size of the Pale Heart destination, we’re going to split up the chest locations into three landing zones: The Blooming, The Impasse, and The Landing. I made sure to equip the Wombo Detector ghost mod, which lets you detect resources and caches within 50 meters.
We’ll be going over the approximate location, but if you want a more in-depth look at all nine Pale Heart Regional chest locations, we’ve got you covered. But if you just want to know where to find them, here’s a picture of their locations:
Destiny 2 — All 6 Cyst Encryption Bit locations
Now that you’ve secured all nine Encryption Bits from the Regional Chests, it’s time to move on to the ones you can find during the Cyst activity. There are an equal amount of different types of Cyst missions, a total of six, and finding them is fairly easy.
In every mission, you’ll come to a big boss arena at the end, and in the corners of these arenas, is a locked door. Once you defeat the boss, the doors will unlock, allowing you to enter them and collect the Encryption Bits.
The Bits will be fairly large, and hard to miss since the rooms are smaller in size.
But once you have collected all 15 Encryption Bits, head back to the gold chest location in between The Seclusion and The Divide, right after the area where you unlock a Prismatic Fragment, and open the chest to get a legendary Khvostov 7G-0X.
The Khvostov Auto Rifle is a timely cost for only one Exotic weapon, so be sure to keep an eye out for the other brand-new exotic weapons you can obtain in Destiny 2 The Final Shape.
