How to get the Fallout show characters in Fallout Shelter

If only you could make some popcorn for Maximus.

Following the huge (and warranted) success of the Fallout show on Amazon, Fallout Shelter has received an update where you can get characters from the show in your vault. I’m sure Maximus won’t complain.

How to unlock Fallout show characters in Fallout Shelter

The characters from the Fallout show don’t come for free in Fallout Shelter, however, you’ve got to earn them.

Please note that thanks to the PC version essentially being abandoned by Bethesda, only the mobile versions of Fallout Shelter will benefit from this update. Sorry PC players, but you won’t be able to get these characters until Bethesda decides to catch the PC version up to speed.

When opening Fallout Shelter, you should notice new quests that are tied to the show. Here, you’ll be able to go on quests that relate to important plot points in the show with your vault dwellers. As you play through these quests, you’ll unlock the characters to have in your vault.

For certain quests, certain characters from the show will be mandatory, providing an actual plot for you to engage in.

Through quests, you’ll be able to unlock:

  • Lucy MacLean
  • Ma June
  • The Ghoul
  • Maximus
  • Snake Oil Salesman

They will come with their own gear, and their own Special stats.

How to get the Fallout TV show quests in Fallout Shelter

If you’re picking up Fallout Shelter because of this update, then you’ve got some work to do before you can embark on these quests to earn these characters.

All quests in Fallout Shelter are only available upon building the Overseer’s Office.

The Overseer’s Office will unlock once you’ve got 18 Dwellers in your vault. The quickest way to get to 18 Vault Dwellers in the early game is by making as many babies as quickly as possible. Don’t neglect the resources you’ll need to support these new mouths, however.

The Overseer’s Office, once unlocked, costs 1,000 Caps to build, but focusing on quests and sending your Dwellers on voyages in the wasteland shouldn’t make this too difficult to accumulate.

With the Overseer’s Office, you should see the new quests appear instantly and can work toward them before the quests expire.

Fallout Shelter is already a great game that the show has brought many back to. But it isn’t the only Fallout game to receive more attention since the show dropped.
