Diablo 4 players can find Temper Manuals through random drops from most in-game content, such as Bosses, chests, Helltides, the Pit, and Nightmare Dungeons. The more challenging activities, like World Bosses, have a chance of dropping rarer Temper Manuals, such as the Legendary tier.

The fastest ways of earning Temper Manuals are probably just doing Helltide runs. It’s also the fastest way to level up. It won’t take long to comb through waves of enemies and collect loot with some of it being Temper Manuals.

You’ll be engaging in the Helltides anyway to earn Iron Wolves Reputation rewards for the Season 4 campaign. Otherwise, I recommend simply playing the game and completing activities as you come across them, and you will encounter Temper Manuals soon enough.

Temper Manuals work simply: Using them at the Blacksmith allows you to add affixes to your items. Similar to the Codex of Power, Temper Manuals are categorized into the following sections: Defensive, Offensive, Resource, Mobility, and Utility — each focusing on affixes relating to their category.

The good news is that once you obtain a Temper Manual in Diablo 4, they are retained for unlimited use. Not only that but Temper Manuals also come with a handful of affixes, giving you more leeway to attach the best one for your character and to further help build optimization.

While Temper Manuals are available to the player indefinitely once found, they can’t be used continuously on one item. For example, items now have a “Temper Reroll” limit. This means that players can reroll the affixes associated with the Temper Manual up to the item’s Temper Reroll limit. Once the player reaches this number, they can no longer reroll.

Some of the Wolf’s Honor reward caches also contain Temper Manuals, so you’ll want to know about the best ways to farm Wolf’s Honor if you want some high-rarity Temper Manuals.
