Sunstone in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is needed to enhance your equipment, although it’s really quite difficult to find. It’s a rare drop, but worth it.
Where to find Sunstone in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of open information regarding Sunstone, an ultra-rare resource used to enhance equipment. Even in my extensive play time, I’ve been unable to gather a complete range of information to help you out. Sunstone is that difficult to come by. As more information comes to light and gets discovered, I’ll be sure to update this guide.
I do know that Sunstone can be mined in Dragon’s Dogma 2, like any other stone, but only in a specific location.
You’ll find Sunstone deposits around Dragonsbreath Tower, but only a few. You can find Dragonsbreath Tower by following the road that snakes from Bakbattahl to the southwest.
Sunstone can also be found by defeating certain creatures, with a pretty low drop chance, around 10% for every creature that can drop it.
This makes getting the resource difficult at worst, and tedious at best. You’d better have a strong party, as you’re going to have a busy time ahead of you.
There are a couple of creatures that drop Sunstone in Dragon’s Dogma 2: The Grim Ogres and Gorechimeras.
These creatures aren’t exactly common and have even eluded players into NG+. If you know where these creatures spawn, then you can repeatedly rest at a campfire and slaughter them again and again until you get the Sunstone you need.
Where to find Grim Ogres in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Grim Ogres are uncommon enemies in Bakttahl. As you keep adventuring, you’re bound to bump into them. These are the easiest ones to farm for Sunstone, although they’ll take a lot of effort to take down. Make sure to make the best use of Ice, as that’s a particular weakness of theirs.
Where to find Gorechimeras in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Gorechimeras are extremely rare, but one can be found near the Griffin’s crash site at the beginning of the game. The Griffin’s body won’t stay there forever, and if you return, it’ll reveal a cave, with a Gorechimera deep inside.
Finding Sunstone is truly hard, but you won’t need too much of it, thankfully. It is worth the trouble to get the smithing upgrade you want.
