How to get Sinistcha in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet – Teal Mask DLC

How to catch the Matcha Pokemon

Sinistcha is a brand-new Grass/Ghost type Pokemon, only available in the Teal Mask DLC. It’s the evolved form of Poltchageist, another new Pokemon. This mysterious creature is tricky to find and even harder to evolve. Still, if you’re a thorough Trainer, you know you need it in your collection. This is how to get Sinistcha in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet – Teal Mask DLC.

Obtaining Sinistcha is challenging because there are a couple of versions of its pre-evolution, Poltchageist. Before we dive into the specifics, let’s find you a Poltchageist first.

You can find Poltchageist in the areas highlighted on the map above. Poltchageist seems to be a rare spawn in these areas, so don’t despair if it takes a while to find. It took me upwards of 20 minutes to find a Poltchageist, and mine showed up by the river.

Once you have your Poltchageist, it’s time to figure out what variant you have. Underneath Poltchageist, there’s a tan-colored ring around a green circle.

The more common variant looks plain like mine (pictured), and the rarer version has a small square stamp on the ring. The variants don’t affect performance in combat, but let’s face it: we all want the rare one! You may have to get creative to see underneath your Poltchageist, but I let mine out on a flight of stairs and could angle the camera without much trouble.

If you’ve got the common version, you need an Unremarkable Teacup for evolution. Otherwise, you need the Masterpiece Teacup. Here’s how to get both.

You can find an Unremarkable Teacup to the Northwest in a small cave in the Paradise Barrens. You’ve already been here if you’ve completed the early story mission where you visit signposts.

To the Northeast, near the Timeless Woods, you’ll find a cave with a Snorlax sleeping outside. You’ll need to defeat the Snorlax, and you’ll find the Masterpiece Teacup inside. The Snorlax is no joke, as it’s LV76 and hits like a freight Train. Still, Snorlax is a great Pokemon, thanks to its bulk, so why not catch it while you’re here?

With the required Teacup item in your possession, use it on your Poltchageist to evolve it into a Sinistcha. The Teal Mask DLC brings a few new faces to the Pokedex but also a few popular returning Pokemon.
