How to get Sand in Pax Dei

Why can't we just grab it off the shore?!

Pax Dei will require you to get your hands on some Sand sooner or later, although it’ll dawn on you that you can’t find anywhere to collect some, even on the shore lines. And the way to get it is rather unexpected.

Where to find Sand in Pax Dei

In Pax Dei, you may expect to find Sand along the shore (like Clay). You know, where all the sand is. However, you can’t actually obtain Sand in this way. Strangely, the only way to get Sand is to get it from Gneiss Deposits.

That’s right, when mining Gneiss Deposits, there’s a chance to find some Sand at each level of breaking down the Gneiss Deposit. The game is pretty generous with the Sand drops, although it’s not a guaranteed drop.

To be able to mine these larger Gneiss Deposits, you’ll need yourself the Stone Pickaxe. For this, you’ll need a Gneiss Stone that you can find on the floor, and two Long Wood Stocks. Note that you’ll need the Carpenter’s Workbench to craft it.

You’ll be able to craft the Long Wood Stocks at a Wood Chopping Block, for only five Snapwood. With the Stone Pickaxe in hand, all you must now do is find those larger Gneiss Deposits.

I’ve had the most success with finding Gneiss Deposits in higher elevations in the rockier areas of hills, on the grass. They typically spawn in clusters, so you should be able to grab enough Gneiss and Sand to last you a while.

It is currently unknown how long it will take for the Gneiss Deposits to respawn, and current times are very viable to change.

If you’re struggling to find any Gneiss Deposits, make sure to ask your neighbors! It’s a communal game for a reason. Any neighbor that’s built foundations will know where to go to get lots of Gneiss Deposits, so ask them for their aid. They may take you to a good spot or merely direct you.

Make sure to ask around thoroughly, as different players may have different spots, and by knowing where all the local Gneiss Deposits spawn, you’ll be able to efficiently make the rounds if some have already been mined.

Now that you know how best to get Sand, and Gneiss Deposits, in Pax Dei, you can happily proceed with your homestead construction. And when you need to find some Flint, we’ll be here for you again.
