Skull and Bones: How to get rid of the Death Mark expired notification

If you are just starting up your Skull and Bones adventure, you will eventually find a pirate organization called The Helm that you will eventually join. While you get a lot of benefits from joining The Helm like the ability to create smuggling routes and become quite rich, there are things you cannot do. Otherwise, you will have to face the consequences.

You see, every time you perform an action that is against The Helm’s interests, you will receive the Death Mark. As you might expect, this is sort of like a Wanted status. This means that enemy ships will attack you on sight. This will only last for a limited time, however, many players will have the Death Mark notification permanently. Thankfully, many players have found some ways you can make it disappear:

  • Restart the game. Yes, I know this is the most basic troubleshooting step that is included in almost every error guide out there on the internet, but many Skull and Bones players have found this is the most reliable option to make the Death Mark expired notification disappear.
  • Talk to a quest giver or vendor NPC. Since talking to either a quest giver or vendor NPC will always end up with an on-screen notification, visiting and speaking to one or even a Bounty Board will take care of the buggy expired notification.
  • Smash the space bar, sailor! While I haven’t tried this myself, many players’ reports claim that smashing the space bar multiple times will eventually get rid of the annoying notification. That, or you will suffer from a sore thumb. You have been warned.

Unless Ubisoft patches this issue, you will have to try one of the steps above in case you get the curse of the Death Mark notification. Just try to not wrong The Helm in the meantime!
