How to get Power Armor Training in Fallout New Vegas

Drippy.

If you think you can just stroll up to half a ton of weaponized steel and walk around in it, you’re dead wrong. Using power armor in Fallout New Vegas requires training before you can even think about putting it on and dominating the wasteland. Here is how you go about it.

The Power Armor Training can be received from two factions in Fallout New Vegas. The first and easiest is the Brotherhood of Steel. However, if you’re not too keen on siding with them, I recommend visiting the Remnants of The Enclave.

Complete missions for the Brotherhood of Steel

The first thing you need to do to begin your Power Armor Training in Fallout New Vegas is make contact with the Brotherhood of Steel. They can be found in a bunker in the Hidden Valley area of the map. This is found just southeast of Sloan.

It is possible to find the correct bunker by looking for the one that has Ban the Bomb written on the front of it. You will get the exact location from either Mr. House, Yes Man, or the body of a dead paladin.

You will be given a series of tasks by the Brotherhood of Steel. The first is to get rid of an NCR ranger in a nearby bunker. Simply head over there, kill him, or speech-check him to get him to leave. This will require a level 30 speech level.

Once you have done this, you have proven yourself worthy of the Brotherhood’s trust. McNamara will ask you to complete another quest, but on your way out, you will be approached by Hardin, who will ask you to get rid of McNamara. You can choose to side with either and still receive Power Armor Training in Fallout New Vegas. If you want to see both outcomes, I recommend saving and seeing the end of both paths.

The steps taken from here vary depending on who you choose. Either way, they are simple steps that will result in you being able to request to join the Brotherhood of Steel. They will give you one more task to complete, and then you’re ready to receive your training.

Receive Power Armor Training

No matter who you choose to side with, the results are the same when it comes to training. Simply complete their final mission and approach them. They will give you a set of Power Armor and then bestow the training on you. This will add a perk to your character allowing you to wear any suit of Power Armor in Fallout New Vegas.

Complete missions for Remnants of The Enclave

First, find the Remnants by speaking to Arcade Ganon, who can be found at the Old Mormon Fort in Freeside. He must be recruited as a follower by passing a speech check of 75, using the Confirmed Bachelor perk, or increasing your reputation with the Followers of The Apocalypse. This is the start of the time-consuming quest to receive Power Armor Training in Fallout New Vegas. It is long but rich in Fallout lore.

Once he is your follower, improve your relationship through speech and positive actions until he gives you the quest. Once you have five follower points with Arcade, the quest will be available.

However, you will also have to reach a certain point in the game. For the Mr. House path, you will need to have wiped out the Brotherhood of Steel. Or, for Yes Man, he will need to be installed in the Mainframe. For the NCR path, you will need to disconnect or kill Mr. House. You will not trigger the quest if you side with Ceasar’s Legion.

Once you finally trigger Arcade Ganon’s personal quest, it is up to you to gather the Remnants of The Enclave. Once you have found and collected them, simply head to their hideout and speak to them to receive both the Power Armor Training and a suit of Enclave armor.

Of course, you could just totally skip all this with some console commands or cheats.
