In LEGO Fortnite, there is a need for wooden planks very early on in the game. However, it isn’t the most obvious thing to obtain. It isn’t too complicated, however. I hope you’ve got lots of wood handy!
Making the Lumber Mill in LEGO Fortnite
To get planks in LEGO Fortnite, for more complex builds, you’ll need the Lumber Mill. This is a station that you can use to process wood into several other things.
To build the Lumber Mill, you’ll need:
- 8 Wood
- 15 Granite
Those resources are in abundance, so it shouldn’t take too long to grab what you need.
With the wood and granite, you can build the station and place it wherever you want. You’ll want to build it somewhere convenient and easy to access.
With the Lumber Mill positioned and built, you can now get on to crafting whatever wooden products you need.

Making Planks in LEGO Fortnite
With the Lumber Mill in LEGO Fortnite, you’ll be able to make two things immediately: Planks and Wooden Rods.
To build these items, select the recipe you want to craft, in this case, Planks. Each Plank costs 1 Wood, so make sure you have enough Wood for whatever you want to build. At the top of the Lumber Mill menu, you’ll see the ingredients on the left, and the product on the right.
Click the up arrows on the ingredients to fill the station with what it needs, and then you can sit back and wait for the resources to process. If you need a lot of an item, you can queue up as many ingredients as you need and wait for them all to be built.
More than one Lumber Mill may be desired if you want to divide the waiting time.
Once the crafting has been completed, you’ll be able to take the Planks you’ve made. You’ll need to do this every time you want a processed good, so it’ll be a good idea to make more than you need and simply let the Lumber Mill keep running in the background whilst you busy yourself with other matters.
The processed goods will stay in the station until you pick them up, so don’t worry about them being dropped on the floor or anything.
