Baldurs Gate 3 Misty Step Guide

How to get Misty Step in Baldur’s Gate 3

Nothing's out of reach now.

Misty Step is one of the most useful spells you can have in Baldur’s Gate 3. It lets you transport yourself to another space that you can see within 18 meters. It’s obvious to see why an ability like that would be beneficial for both exploration and combat. It’s also clear to see why you’d want to get it as soon as possible. Well, here are all the ways you can get Misty Step.

Misty Step is a level 2 spell that can be learned by a lot of classes. Essentially, nearly any class that can cast spells will be able to learn Misty Step at level 2. So, Sorcerers, Wizards, and Warlocks can easily learn Misty Step. Then, there are Paladins, Druids, or Rangers who can learn Misty Step with the right subclasses.

Paladins must select either Oath of the Ancients or Oath of Vengeance to get Misty Step at level 5. Druids must choose the Circle of the Land. Rangers have to select Gloom Stalker for their subclass. But apart from just learning the spell outright, there are a few other solutions.

Alternatively, you can find scrolls that let you use Misty Step without having to know the actual spell in Baldur’s Gate 3. These scrolls are only for one-time uses though, so you need to use them carefully. You’ll stumble across all sorts of spell scrolls throughout your adventure in Baldur’s Gate 3. But the best place to find them is usually via traders. Elsewhere you can find Misty Step scrolls in chests and other containers throughout the world.

Alternatively, you can find equipment that gives you Misty Step for free. Amulet of Misty Step and Disintegrating Night Walkers both give you the ability to use the spell. The former can be bought from Omeluum in the Underdark during Act 1, while the latter is dropped by True Soul Nere in the Grymforge. Finally, if you’re a Githyanki, you can learn Misty Step as a Cantrip at level 5. This means that Lae’zel also gets this ability, which makes her terrifyingly adept at closing the gap between enemies. So even if you aren’t a spellcasting class, you should still be able to cast Misty Step in other ways.

Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you lots of ways to learn Misty Step. It’s a spell that you should have somewhere in your arsenal without a doubt. When you next find a chest that’s just out of reach for a jump you’ll be glad you have Misty Step. It’s also brilliant for stealthy characters that need to move from one spot to another without being seen.
