Resources are bountiful in ARK Survival Ascended, and there’s a wide array of them that you’re going to need to collect throughout your adventures.
Hide is one of them, and it’s pretty helpful for various tasks. We’re going to break down where you’ll be able to find it.
ARK Survival Ascended – Where To Get Hide
ARK Survival Ascended has now been released for players worldwide, and the game takes all the mechanics of previous ARK titles and elevates them.
While a lot has changed, many of the resources throughout the map have not. This includes the starting materials players will need, such as Fiber, and Hide.
The latter is what we are concerned about today, as it has a variety of different functionalities such as crafting it into armor, and it’s a key component of the refining forge.
As for how players can find it, a common source is the deceased corpses of animals.
Using a metal hatchet is your best bet, as early on within ARK you’re more than likely not going to have access to the required dinosaurs that can harvest Hide for you.
However, later on, if you do manage to tame one of the following dinosaurs, then it’ll make your Hide harvesting excursions a lot easier.

- Sabertooth
- Therizinosaur
- Thylacoleo
- Allosaurus
- Mantis
- Mosasaurs
- Rock Drake
For the best results, find yourself a chainsaw to do the grisly work of harvesting Hide quickly and efficiently.

Best Locations To Find Hide in Ark Survival Ascended
The best location for Hide is going to come down to your hunting skills at the end of the day. The better you are at hunting dinosaurs – skinning them in time before you are mauled down by other predators – the more Hide you’ll collect.
