Cinder is a unique resource in Hades 2 that can only come from one source, so how can you get it? If you’re attempting to unlock the Umbral Flames weapon but need Cinder, here’s where to look.
Hades 2: How to get Cinder
One of the first items you’ll see requiring Cinder is the Umbral Flames weapon, which also requires Silver. While Silver is a lot easier to come across, where is Cinder? You can get Cinder in Hades 2 by defeating Hecate, the boss of Erebus.
After several runs in Erebus, you’ll eventually find the Guardian of Erebus, Hecate. The Headmistress is the final boss to face before you make it to the next dungeon called Oceanus. She’s a tough nut to crack, but once you defeat her for the first time you’ll receive one Cinder.
For all we know currently, Hecate is the only one who drops Cinder. Since we’re jumping into this game for the first time, we’re still unsure of everything Hades 2 has to offer. This means that we may discover more ways to come by Cinder in the future. If we figure out easier ways to get Cinder we’ll let you know.
Unfortunately, you’ll have to defeat Hecate two more times if you want to unlock Umbral Flames. Requiring three Silver and three Cinder, this weapon allows you to launch damaging range attacks while you move, and Special attacks that orbit around you.
As you make it farther into Hades 2 you may end up unlocking even more weapons that require Cinder. Or perhaps you can use it to unlock other types of items. Nevertheless, Cinder seems to only be available as a drop from Hecate at the end of an Erebus run.
It’s one of the tougher materials to come by, but once you add more permanent upgrades to Melinoe you’ll get farther into these dungeons and will have an easier time farming Cinder. Anyone excited to see what’s to come for Hades 2 will be interested to check out the Hades 2 roadmap.
