While a novice to cozy farming simulator games can probably guess Palia has an aquarium feature, it may be less obvious to anticipate there is also a terrarium feature in the game. Palia allows you to put bugs and other land creatures in terrariums to decorate your house. That’s great, you may say, but how do you get the terrarium itself? Here’s how to get a terrarium in Palia.
Palia Terrarium crafting guide
To get access to your first terrarium, you need to first catch a Shiny bug. That means throwing smoke bombs at bugs, as the game introduced you to already. A Shiny bug is no different from a normal bug in appearance. The only way you can tell it’s shiny is that it sparkles on the overworld map. This makes it easy to identify and capture them.
Shiny bugs’ only feature that puts them above their regular counterparts is they can be put in terrariums. The first time you catch one, the game will inform you of this. Getting the terrarium to put in your house is easier than you may expect, though. You don’t need to buy a crafting recipe, or find sand and smelt glass, or anything like that. If you’ve caught your first shiny critter, you already have access to a terrarium.
Simply go to your housing plot, select the shiny creature from your inventory, then click to start placement mode.
Set your terrarium down wherever you’d like in your house and then exit placement mode.
It’s as simple as that. You don’t have to craft, the bug comes with the terrarium. Now you have a new friend in your home. There’s no way to put them all inside a bigger terrarium as far as I know, but you can stack them on top of each other.
Not-so-insectoid creatures also come in terrariums, such as crabs down in Bahari Bay. Even more to catch for later!
