Stardew Valley: How to craft a Big Chest

No matter if you decide to make a new world for 1.6 or continue an old one, you’ll be able to gain access to Big Chests. But how can you craft them? You can get a Big Chest in Stardew Valley by purchasing the crafting recipe from Robin for 5,000 gold.

Chests in Stardew Valley have always been a little lackluster when it comes to space. Luckily, ConcernedApe has now implemented Big Chests which hold 70 slots instead of just 36. Head over to Robin’s house between the hours of 9 AM to 5 PM. Speak to her when she’s behind the counter and check for the Big Chest recipe selling for 5,000 gold.

Once you purchase it, you can head back to your farm and craft one using 120 Wood and two Copper Bars. You can get Wood from cutting down trees on your farm, while Copper Bars are from smelting Copper Ores in a Furnace.

Once you craft a Big Chest, you can either place it down by itself or replace an old Chest with it. This will give you back your old chest, but your new Big Chest will hold all the items your smaller Chest previously had. Just right-click a normal chest while holding your Big Chest to replace it.

Now you can finally avoid storage issues in your Stardew Valley playthrough! You’ll still need plenty of chests as you collect more and more items, but Big Chests make storing items a lot easier now. Not only can you now have Big Chests from 1.6, but this update introduces things like Mystery Boxes and a Bookseller as well.
