One of the things that players have been raving about the most since Cyberpunk 2077‘s release is the tremendous amount of NPC interactions and relationships that you can form throughout your adventure in the dangerous world your character lives in. Your actions have direct consequences and can form or destroy friendships in the blink of an eye. One wrong word and someone may become your worst enemy, just like that! One of the many NPCs who inhabit this world is Brick, the ex-boss of Maelstrom who reigned supreme until Royce defeated him. You won’t encounter Brick too often during the story, however while completing the Main Job called ‘The Pickup’, you will gain the optional objective to free the man. Continue reading to learn how you can break him out of the place he’s been imprisoned – or stop by just to laugh at his predicament.
Find Brick’s Cell
First, you will find Brick hidden away in a small closet. His cell is located inside of the second combat room during the Main Job, behind a door that separates two glass windows. The door, unfortunately, is locked, but there are two different ways that you can get it open. Firstly, you can hack the door controls to force it open for a few RAM, which will let you get inside and progress on your objective. The other method is to use the closed laptop on a table nearby, which contains an email that has the code to open up the locked door. The code itself is 9691, in case you are in a hurry to continue on your Main Job.
Disable the Laser Mine Targeting Brick
Unfortunately, if you thought this quest would be easy you’re going to be sorely surprised. There is a laser mine pointing at Brick’s chest that he will warn you about as you enter his cell. If he happens to move in any way, it will detonate and kill him instantly. Luckily the detonator is nearby, and can be found in the room to your right on a table. If you can’t find it, look by the door and scoop it up before heading back to Brick. Now, you can choose to either light the mine up, taking out Brick, or you can disable it and free the ex-Maelstrom leader from his prison. Make sure to remind him that he is now in your debt, since you never know when you’ll need help from a guy like Brick! He will promise to help you out if you ever need it, meaning you earned yourself a new ally during this side quest.
Is Brick Worth Capturing?
If you practice due diligence, you may notice that Brick has a bounty on his head from the NCPD. It’s not for an insignificant amount either, as they’re offering up 5,000 eddies. Therefore, if you are strapped for cash and don’t feel like you’ll be needing his help anytime soon, take down Brick and cash in on the bounty for some sweet sweet money!
