How to flip a car over in LEGO Fortnite

Where's a crane when you need one?

It’s never been easier to create functional vehicles in LEGO Fortnite. You can build anything from trucks to trikes, but your options are limited if your creation topples over. There’s no dedicated ‘flip’ button, so let me show you how to flip a car over in LEGO Fortnite.

Nothing is more disheartening than seeing a car you’ve spent hours on toppling over. It’s tempting to try a brute-force approach, like hitting it with another vehicle, but you risk smashing it to pieces.

There’s no full-proof fix as it depends on the size and shape of your vehicle, but here are a couple of things you can try:

Use a Staircase

Full credit goes to u/Embarrassed_Ad2246 on Reddit for figuring this one out. If you have a light vehicle that topples onto its side, you can use a Staircase as a makeshift wedge to flip it back over.

Place a pair of staircases side by side as I have in the image above. I use the Medieval Stairs 01, but the Wooden Stairs work fine. Carefully push your vehicle onto the stairs from the roof side.

With a bit of luck, the wheels on the ground will ‘bite’ into the bottom step, and the car will flip onto the stairs (pictured above). If you can get your vehicle into this position, you can smash the staircase, and your creation will be back on its wheels.

This technique works perfectly with the premade Offroader vehicle, but it’s not foolproof for everything. The wheels on my simple custom build don’t bite into the bottom step no matter what I do, so this trick doesn’t work on every vehicle shape. Whatever you do, do not push a vehicle onto stairs with another vehicle. I’ve destroyed every car I’ve tried this with, so if you can’t do it by hand, you’ll have to try the next suggestion.

Use Balloons

You can use Balloons (1X Torch, 1X Silk Fabric, 1X Cord) to lift toppled vehicles, provided you tether them to the right place. If you can reach the top of your car, try attaching a Small Balloon to it. The upward force is usually enough to flip light vehicles, but you can use multiple balloons if necessary.

Just be careful when attaching multiple Balloons to light vehicles, lest your creation float away into the sky! If this does happen to you, you can pop Balloons with a Recurve Bow (X8 Knotwood Rod, X1 Drawstring). I’ve not experimented with Large Balloons, but they may be your only option if you flip a heavy vehicle.

As cars are so fragile in LEGO Fornite, I wouldn’t recommend heavy-handed techniques unless necessary. I hope we get a dedicated ‘flip’ button in a future update, but for now, Balloons and Staircases are the way to go.

Despite some limitations, there’s never been a better time to get into vehicle crafting in LEGO Fortnite. Don’t forget to start every build with a Car Jack so you can easily reach your creation from every angle.
