Diablo 4: What is error code 75?

Error code 75 is a quite common error that has been tormenting players all over the world. This happens especially after Diablo goes through major – or even minor – updates. You will attempt to enter Sanctuary and an error message will read “There was a problem authenticating your account”, and you will feel disheartened. Well, thankfully, there is nothing wrong with your Battle.net account. The most likely thing is that you are attempting to play the game with an updated version of Diablo 4.

Contrary to the gaming experience of yore, Diablo 4 is one of the many games that have the always-online tag attached to it. That means that there is no way to circumvent this error by attempting to play with an updated version of Diablo 4. Some reports even suggest that this error pops up even after updating, which could indicate a faulty communication with the servers. Whether it is one way or the other, the steps to fix error 75 in Diablo 4 remain the same:

  • Restart your device. If your platform is not detecting the update or is having problems connecting to Blizzard servers, restarting it will kill any background processes and other issues that may be preventing it from doing so.
  • Check for updates. You can go ahead and check for updates directly on your platform of choice:
    • PC: Check Diablo 4 on the Battle.net client and click the cog next to the “Play” button. Click on “Check for Updates”.
    • PlayStation: Hover to Diablo 4 and click the Options button. Click on “Check for Update”:
    • Xbox: From the main screen go to “My Games and Apps”. Select “Manage” and go to the Updates tab. Diablo 4 should appear.
  • Reset your internet connection. If you are experiencing connectivity issues, then resetting your internet connection will clear its bandwidth and also fix any undergoing glitches.
  • Check the Blizzard Support Page or the Diablo DownDetector Page. While this issue is not strictly related to server issues, checking both the official support page and the unofficial DownDetector page for Diablo 4 could give you an idea of whether there are some server stability issues or undergoing server maintenance.
