Diablo 4 is available on a variety of platforms. Players seem to most commonly encounter Error Code 300031 when they are playing on console. The issue appears to be related to a necessary console update that hasn’t been applied. The solution in many cases is simply to restart your console, apply any new update you can access, and then start the game again. You may have to try this a time or two, but it should get you back in the game.

A more involved fix

Sometimes, if you’re playing on Xbox Series X, the console does weird things. For instance, I’ve had it fail to recognize my controller, which worked fine with other devices. It may do the same thing with updates or software. In that case, you should take more extensive measures:

  • Power off the console
  • Disconnect it from its power supply
  • Wait a few minutes
  • Plug the console in again
  • Turn on the console

This process sometimes kicks obstructions to the side, if merely updating your console did not solve the issue.

If the above techniques don’t get you going, try waiting a few minutes before repeating them. Error Code 300031 is a fearsome adversary, but you can beat it!
