Hades 2: How to fix crashing on launch

Some players online who were excited to jump into Hades 2 have met the roadblock of seeing a strange crash notice pop up on launch. Since Hades 2 isn’t on consoles yet, Steam and Epic Games Store players have to live with some annoying Early Access problems. While there’s no single proven answer to fixing Hades 2 crashing on launch, here are some possible solutions that could aid you.

Run as administrator

When games have trouble launching it can occasionally be fixed by running the program as administrator. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Right-click Hades 2 in your Steam Library.
  2. Under Manage, select Browse Local Files.
  3. Scroll down to find the Hades 2 application.
  4. Right-click the application and select Properties.
  5. Under the Compatibility tab, check off the box for “Run this program as an administrator.”
  6. Select Apply then OK.

Now you should attempt to launch Hades 2 right from the folder and see if that works. This can often bypass any strange crashes at launch and get you right into Hades 2.

Update graphics drivers

If your graphics drivers haven’t updated to their latest version, this can cause a multitude of problems when attempting to run games. Anyone with a Nvidia graphics card can use GeForce Experience to check for updates, while AMD users can download AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition to update their drivers.

Disable antivirus protection

Sometimes your antivirus or firewall protection service can block games when they don’t need to be. To fix this, you simply have to go into whatever antivirus program you’re using and tell it to ignore Hades 2.

If you use Windows Security, just enter the application, select “Firewall and network protection”, then choose “Allow an app through firewall”. This will allow your security system to bypass firewall protection and run like normal.

Verify the integrity of game files

Perhaps Hades 2 has some corrupted files after downloading the game through Steam. This can be fixed by verifying your game file integrity, which is easily done by following these steps:

  1. Right-click Hades 2 in your Steam library and select Properties.
  2. Under Installed Files, select “Verify integrity of game files.”

After this, Steam will clean up any bad files and make sure everything’s in order. This won’t affect any of your save files, so don’t worry about losing any game progress.

If none of these solutions work, you may just have to uninstall and reinstall Hades 2 to see if it fixes the issue. Maybe even restarting your PC will help. Nevertheless, these solutions are the most common for fixing games crashing on launch, so you should be fine after attempting these fixes.

Once you finally make your way into Hades 2, you may be a little lost story-wise, even if you played the first game. So what’s the story from Hades to Hades 2?
