Error code 2901 usually appears when you try to load up Modern Warfare 2. If you see this message, its unlikely you’ll be able to get past it as your game will either freeze or crash. Below, you’ll find some workarounds for you to try that can help you get past the error code and back to slaying enemies.

Modern Warfare 2 – Steps to try and fix error code 2901

Its thought that this particular error code could be related to corrupt game files or poor internet connection, so we’ll cover those first. As Season 02 Reloaded just dropped, it means that you need to update your game. Usually, this is smooth sailing, but you could encounter issues along the way. If you’ve checked that you’ve definitely updated your game, Steam players can verify the game files to make sure nothing was lost along the way. To do this, visit your Steam Library and select Modern Warfare 2. Right click on the game and choose ‘Properties’ and then select ‘Local Files.’ Finally, there’s an option that allows you to ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files.’

If you suspect that your internet connection could be causing error code 2901 in Modern Warfare 2, you can try troubleshooting it for any issues. Most routers can be restarted so, if in doubt, unplug it and wait for around 20 seconds before plugging it back in. You can then load up Modern Warfare 2 and see if that has resolved the error code.

Next, there’s a chance that the problem may not be on your side. If there’s an issue with the Modern Warfare 2 servers, it could be preventing you from accessing the game. You can keep an eye on Activision’s Support or Infinity Ward’s Twitter account where they’ll update players on server outages.

As always, simply restarting your game can do the trick and hopefully the error code disappears like nothing happened. Hopefully the developers fix these pesky error codes sooner rather than later so we can jump into Season 02 Reloaded without any difficulties.
