How to fix denial reason error code 18 in Fortnite

Don't be a party pooper.

Fornite is not immune to issues, even if the Battle Royal game has been out for a few years. Issues will and do pop up all the time. Luckily when that happens we’ve got guides for solving them. One of the more frustrating issues is in Fortnite is the “denial reason error code 18.” Read on and we’ll show you how to fix it.

Fortnite: How to fix denial reason error code 18

This issue appears mostly when playing with a party. For instance, you might see it when you accept a party invite. But then you’ll get stuck in the main lobby, leaving you unable able to join. It also could appear when the party you’re trying to get into is already in a match. Even though this is a somewhat big issue, it’s solvable.

Let’s walk you through some methods that may fix the denial error code 18.

  • Restart Fortnite: Sometimes the bug appears randomly and will go away with a fresh restart. Most of Fortnite’s technical issues can be resolved with a simple restart.
  • Add friends to your Epic Account: This is mostly for PC players since console users have their respective friends list. By adding friends to your Epic Account, you might override Fornite’s invite system, making it easier to join a game or party.
  • Wait till the match is over: As mentioned, error code 18 pops up whenever the party is in a game. So by waiting, you might fix the issue. I suggest doing this first.
  • Change your party privacy to public: I don’t have a reason for this, but when this issue appeared for me, changing the privacy setting seemed to have fixed it. So, you may have the same luck.
  • Invite friends: Sometimes, the invite system gets cross-wired, so it may be an issue on your friend’s side. By inviting friends, the game should start to act normal. If not, then it could be a server issue. In that case, wait till you hear from Epic regarding the issue.
