Satisfactory Coal Plant Generator Bug

How to fix coal plants not taking coal bug in Satisfactory 1.0

There are bugs in my coal generator.

Many players have reported that their coal plants aren’t taking coal in Satisfactory, and it has since been confirmed that it’s a bug that’s being worked on. There are temporary solutions, however, so you can work around this game-stopping bug and carry on.

Stop interacting with your coal plants to prevent the coal bug in Satisfactory

Many players have been reporting that their coal generators inexplicably stop taking in coal, which is a disastrous bug to encounter. If you’re one of these players, then don’t worry. You’re not alone. There currently is no fix for this bug, but there are workarounds that players have figured out.

Through community efforts and experimentation around this bug, it turns out that interacting with the coal generators is what’s causing the issues. As soon as someone interacts with the UI for their coal generator, the coal plant stops taking in coal, making it useless and forcing your supply chain to halt.

The current workaround is to simply not use the coal generator to keep it running smoothly. So long as you don’t bother the thing, it’ll keep working as intended.

However, if you must interact with it for any reason, then make sure to do one of the following:

  • Have coal in your inventory.
  • Reload a previous save manually and leave the coal generator be.

Any other method of fixing the bug has fallen flat, such as destroying and rebuilding the plant. From the moment you load into a save, the generators will be working fine until interacted with (unless you have coal in your inventory, for some reason).

It’s worth dropping a save before interacting with your coal generators just in case it does break down. I’d hate for you to lose any progress.

This bug has been reported several times on many different forums, so the developers are very aware of this bug and should be working hard to fix it. However, it’ll be worth upvoting threads complaining about the issue to push awareness even further, even though it’s a known issue.

Until then, all we can do is sit tight until it’s fixed and step on eggshells around our coal generators.

Now that you know this bug is being handled and how to work around it, you can set up a dedicated server to play the game with your friends and be annoyed at the coal generators together.
