Taming pets is going to be the primary focus of Hunters throughout World of Warcraft, and especially in Classic WoW when some can learn unique abilities compared to others. This is the case within the Elder Ashenvale Bear, and we will run over where to obtain one within WoW.
WoW Classic: How to Find the Elder Ashenvale Bear
Hunter’s are amongst the most popular specs for players to use within World of Warcraft, and especially within Classic, due to the limited number of ones to choose from. The ability to take command of numerous pets you find throughout Azeroth is something that players still seek out to this day, so it’s no wonder why players have questions about where to find certain ones.
The Elder Ashenvale Bear is unique, mainly because it’s one of the only pets within Classic for the time being that can learn Claw Rank Four. This is the strongest level that Claw will get to within Classic WoW at the time of writing and, thus, will deal the most damage.

To obtain this pet, you’re first going to want to head to the region of Ashenvale, hence the name of the animal. When here, you’re then going to need to head towards the right side of the map, and nestled between Splintertree-Post and Raynewood Retreat.
Located along the junction between these two locations is going to be where players find the most success at the Elder Ashenvale Bear spawning. Keep in mind, that players will need to dismiss their current pet before trying to tame one of these.
Furthermore, ensure your full health before trying this method, as we’ve had our fair share of pet-taming experiments go wrong, mainly due to our poor coordination of where our health is at the moment. However, from experience playing a Hunter class for numerous years now, you must get the best available pets, especially if you’re into hardcore raiding and whatnot.
If you are in the market for more pets, the Ghost Cat is another highly sought-after one that players will want to seek out, which we’ve covered here.
Any of these two pets is going to be viable in combat, and you’ll find yourself topping the damage meters in no time when doing any form of end-game content in Classic WoW.
