Sleeping in a tent is all well and good if you like spiders in our bed and a back that feels like a bag of rocks, but it isn’t really fitting for the Arisen. Getting your first house in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an important step to take, and it all comes down to meeting Mildred.
Finding Mildred in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Mildred is your average happy-go-lucky Dragons Dogma NPC who decides she thinks you have a trustworthy face and decides to put all her worldly possessions in your hands. Mildred should, provided she isn’t bugged, find you behind the main square in Dragon’s Dogma 2. She will offer to let you stay in her house for a week. You can find her on the street just to the east of the main square in Vernworth.
Mildred should find you just after your meeting with Captain Brandt and offer her a home for a week rent-free. The offer seems suspicious, but she needs someone to take her tenancy for the time while she’s away. You need to water her plants, feed her cat, and keep the Goblins out. However, sometimes Mildred may not appear in Dragon’s Dogma 2, leaving you sleeping at the Inns and campsites like some bum.
How to fix Mildred not spawning
Here are a few things you can try if Mildred doesn’t spawn.
- Leave the town, complete a few quests, and return later. This can trigger Mildred’s appearance.
- Drop your money down to less than 20k. This has worked for several players. Thankfully, this is the early game stage, so you won’t be loaded.
- Reload the game completely to trigger Mildred spawning into Vernworth.
- Check behind the pub you drink in, not the one you sleep in. Mildred won’t spawn in behind the sleeping inn, only by the back door of the drinking inn.
- Several Dragons Dogma 2 players have found that Mildred will only spawn around midday.
Should you stay at Mildred’s house?
The offer seems a little fishy. Who would just ask a random stranger on the street to look after their house for a week? Well, the whole offer is without strings and completely innocent. Not only that but once she returns, you can buy her house off her for a measly 20,000 gold.
This is the cheapest house in the game and a must-have in Dragons Dogma 2. As long as Mildred isn’t bugged, you can own your own house and have a place to lay your head.
