In LEGO Fortnite, you’ll need to find the Cactuses to get your hands on some Flexwood for more advanced building items and tools. You may find that you can’t chop them down with what you have. Allow me to show you what you need.
Cactuses in LEGO Fortnite
In LEGO Fortnite, Cactuses don’t exactly work as you’d probably expect. Although they do spawn in an arid desert, they drop something called Flexwood, instead of…cactus. This wood is crucial to progress to the next tier of items and stations. Namely, you’ll start to be able to make much more exciting toys to really get creative with!
Cactuses spawn in a biome called the Dry Valley, but I’m sure you knew that already. They’re all over the place, but your Uncommon Forest Axe won’t do. To harvest Cacti for their Flexwood, you’ll need to craft the Rare Forest Axe, which is a lot easier said than done. I hope you’re prepared for a grind!

Crafting the Rare Forest Axe in LEGO Fortnite
The Rare Forest Axe is the culmination of a lot of resources and effort. You’ll need the Rare Crafting Bench, the Gem Cutter Workbench, and a lot of amber.
The Crafting Bench can be upgraded to Rare using 12 Knotroot Rods, 15 Marble Slabs, six Sand Claws, and three Sand Shells. Considering you would have already made the trip to the Dry Valley, these resources shouldn’t be too hard to source.
You have now unlocked the Rare Forest Axe, but to build it, you need five Cut Amber and three Knotroot Rods.
Cut Amber can be sourced by refining Rough Amber in the Gem Cutter. Rough Amber can be mined in the Dry Valley, atop the mesas. Climb the rocky outcrops to the top, and they’ll be dotted around. To mine them, you’ll need the Uncommon Pickaxe.
This will unlock the Gem Cutter, which costs 20 Marble Slabs, five Rough Amber, five Sand Claws, and three Sand Shells.
Place it wherever is convenient, and like in other stations, you’ll be able to refine Rough Amber into Cut Amber, which can be used to build the Rare Forest Axe. This can then be used to cut down the Cactuses for Flexwood!
Flexwood is a lot easier to harvest than Knotroot, thankfully, as they’re littered everywhere and aren’t in caves.
