In Ark Survival Ascended, the Araneo are subterranean arachnids that live in swarms. Disgusting and dangerous, you’ll need to be well-equipped before taking them on.
Araneo spawn points in Ark Survival Ascended
Araneo make great body guards once tamed, due to their ranged and toxic attacks. But you won’t find any on the surface, during day or night.
On The Island map, currently the only map in Ark Survival Ascended, the Araneo are found in almost all of the cave systems. Anywhere underground is where you’ll find them. They have a common spawn rate, so you won’t have to look for long. In fact, they’ll probably be the ones finding you.

An individual Araneo may not be so fearsome, but if you’re surrounding by loads of them, you’ll be in trouble. Their attacks can increase your Torpor and will slow you down, so it is very easy to get overwhelmed. You’ll definitely need at least one powerful tame to stop them from swarming over you.
All stats will increase upon taming it, and there may be some variance between wild Araneos.
How to Tame an Araneo in Ark Survival Ascended
The Araneo make great opponents, which is why they make better allies. If you want your own swarm of these giant spiders, then you’ll have to get to taming them. You cannot tame an Araneo in any violent way, even including tranaquilisers.
Make sure you’ve got either some sort of raw or spoiled meat in your inventory, alongside Bug Repellent. The Bug Repellent will make the creature less likely to attack you, although it can still be provoked. You’ll need to make sure that the target Araneo is secluded, as you need it not agitated and hungry. Be careful, as touching it or getting too close will prompt it to attack you.
Once docile and hungry, feed it. The taming meter will appear. You’ll have to keep feeding it when it’s hungry to tame it. You won’t lose its location as the taming meter will appear as a marker.
I hope this has been of use to you, fellow survivor, and that you’ll be taking them on and taming them in no time.
