Remnant 2 Forged Iron Guide

How to find and use Forged Iron in Remnant 2

The cooler iron.

Forged Iron is a material that you’re going to need quite a lot of in Remnant 2. It’s how you upgrade weapons from +5 to +10. So it’s a very useful resource to start collecting. However, since much of Remnant 2 is procedurally generated, finding specific items is quite tricky. Here’s all you need to know about where to find Forged Iron and how to use it in Remnant 2.

Remnant 2: Where to find Forged Iron

Forged Iron can drop from enemies and chests throughout Remnant 2. So just by playing the game normally you’ll get a fair amount of it. But Forged Iron only drops when the game thinks you need it.

Let’s say your inventory is full of weapons that haven’t been upgraded. In this case, the game will only drop Iron since that’s the resource you need. But as you upgrade your weapons and start needing Forged Iron, this material will start to drop more frequently throughout the game. The same can be said for the next level of material as well.

Luckily gathering Forged Iron isn’t entirely up to chance. Once you’ve found your first lot, Cass will start selling Forged Iron for 30 Scrap. She won’t have a lot at a time, but this is an option if you need a quick amount.

How to use Forged Iron

This material is for crafting and upgrading weapons and armor with Rigs. So you don’t need to worry about stocking them up for a secret reward later in the game. Use Forged Iron to upgrade your equipment whenever you can.

You may want to keep some Forged Iron back for special weapons that require more of it at a time. For example, the Cube Gun requires quite a bit of Forged Iron for upgrades. Which makes sense considering how powerful the gun is. But it means you may have to forfeit upgrades on other weapons to focus on improving the Cube Gun. It wouldn’t be a Soulslike without hard choices to make after all. All of this means little if you aren’t satisfied with your Archetype though. So be sure to check out our ranking of each Archetype in Remnant 2.
