How to fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2

If my Pawns complain about running everywhere one more time...

Dragon’s Dogma 2 handles fast travel a little differently than most games. It’s a more arduous process that should only be dabbled in if you’re extremely wealthy, or if you’re desperate. But it’ll cut out the travel, at least.

How to find and use Ferrystones in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Ferrystones are what you’ll use to engage in fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2. These items are rather rare and expensive, and can only be used once. Preserving them and using them when needed will keep you from going out of pocket.

There are a few ways to gain Ferrystones in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

The most reliable way is by buying them in some stores. They’re valued at a staggering 10,000 Gold when bought from Philbert’s Sundries in Vernworth. Also, they can be found as a very rare item when on your travels. I wouldn’t rely on this method of acquiring them, though. Unless you have a great way of earning Gold, that is.

You can earn one Ferrystone from handing in your first Seeker’s Coin. These are a collection of 240 coins scattered around the map. upon finding one, you can visit certain Inn Keepers to earn the milestone rewards.

You can use a Ferrystone from your inventory. Upon use, you must select a Portcrystal you wish to fast travel to. The item will be consumed, and you and your party will be instantly teleported to that Portcrystal.

But to travel to a Portcrystal, you must first activate one.

How to find and use Portcrystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Portcrystals are structures that you’ll be fast traveling to upon the use of a Ferrystone in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Some Portcrystals are permanent fixtures, whereas others will be placed and moved by you.

Fixed Portcrystals are larger purple structures that can be found in every major city, like Vernworth, and some towns. You must seek them out in these establishments to activate them, making them available for your fast travel means.

As you play the game, you will come across Portcrystals of your own. You can fix them to the floor to serve as mobile Portcrystals; although note that you must manually move them and set them. You can only have a maximum of 10 Portcrystals placed down, not including the fixed Portcrystals in cities and towns.

Progress the story and complete quests to earn more.

Don’t forget about Oxcarts in Dragon’s Dogma 2

When thinking of traversing somewhere in a timely manner, don’t neglect the Oxcarts. They come with many more cons than Portcrystals, but they’re very cheap and will always be available.

Every city and settlement of import will have Oxcarts available to travel to neighboring cities and important settlements. They’re cheap and are much better than using a Ferrystone if you don’t have many.

Note that you will have to fetch a ride in the morning – if you’re rushing to complete a time-sensitive quest, then you’re out of luck if you don’t catch them during their opening hours. If you’re not in a hurry, then you can simply pass the time on a local bench or await the Oxcart.

They may also get attacked and then destroyed, which isn’t ideal, but will cut out a good portion of your journey.

With every means of quickly traveling in Dragon’s Dogma 2 known, I’m sure your Pawns will be grateful. Especially when trying to complete time-sensitive quests in a timely manner.
