How to farm Gimmighoul Coins in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Gimmighoul Coins are used to evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo. Gimmighoul itself is a largely useless Pokémon, having a stat total of just 300 and only learning Astonish and Tackle without the use of TMs. However, when Gimmighoul is leveled up while holding 999 Gimmighoul Coins, it will evolve into Gholdengo. Gholdengo is a powerful Pokémon with a base stat total of 550, a monstrous 133 Special Attack, and a useful unique ability.
There are two repeatable ways to farm Gimmighoul Coins in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The first is to defeat Roaming Form Gimmighoul, which are scattered all across Paldea. These tiny Pokémon can be difficult to spot but have a distinctive cry. The easiest way to hear this cry is by listening out for a sound similar to that of a coin hitting a hard surface.
The fastest way to farm Gimmighoul Coins is by defeating Chest Form Gimmighoul. Chest Form Gimmighoul appear as chests in the overworld. These chests are static spawns and interacting with these chests will reveal Gimmighoul hiding inside. Defeat the Chest Form Gimmighoul and you’ll be rewarded with roughly 50 Gimmighoul Coins.
While Roaming Form Gimmighoul can be found just about everywhere, Chest Form Gimmighoul are more predictable. They are found on the top of watchtowers and in Paldea’s various ruins. Their watchtower spawns are particularly useful as you can fast travel to these and they eventually respawn. Check these watchtowers regularly and defeat 20 Chest Form Gimmighoul to earn enough coins to evolve your Gimmighoul into a Gholdengo.
