How to extract and imprint aspects in Diablo 4

Aspects are a great way to turn epic gear into legendary. Throughout the game, you will encounter these fantastic power-ups that can be applied to class and slot-specific gear to imbue them with many different buffs. Most aspects in Diablo 4 can be found by killing bosses and finishing dungeons, but some have to be removed from gear to be unlocked. This guide will show you how, once you have an Aspect you want to extract and imprint in Diablo 4.

How to extract and imprint in Diablo 4

Sometimes a piece of gear just doesn’t quite work with your build but has a fantastic Aspect embedded in it. Many of the early game gear you find will also quickly become irrelevant and needs its Aspect saving for something better. Being able to extract and imprint an Aspect in Diablo 4 means you don’t have to lose the best part of a legendary when it no longer stands up the demonic hoards.

Once you have found a piece of gear that you want to extract the Aspect from, you must take it to the Occultist. These can be found in any big town under the symbol of three circles linked by a line. 

In the Occultists shop menu, select the second option from the right at the top of the menu. Drop the item you want to remove the aspect from into the top slot. You will see that the Aspect to be removed is be displayed below. Simply pay the cost of extraction. Now you have the extracted Aspect in your inventory for use elsewhere in Diablo 4.

Imprinting Aspects in Diablo 4

Imprinting requires you to have unlocked the required Aspect or to have it in your inventory before the extraction process. Once you have chosen the aspect and piece of gear you want to imprint your aspect on in Diablo 4, open up the Occultist menu again.

The first option on the list will have a slot for the item you want to Imprint in; pop your gear in there. The second two options allow you to place an unlocked Aspect or an Aspect from your inventory on your gear. Choose the one you want and place it in the slot. The final slot will show you the final piece of gear.

Simply pay the cost in materials and enjoy your new Legendary piece of gear in Diablo 4.
