Do you ever catch yourself in combat with a group of enemies in Baldur’s Gate 3 where they keep resisting some of your attacks? There are reasons for that, since many creatures and characters have both weaknesses and resistances to certain damage types. Learning enemy information is vital for winning fights, but how do you accomplish this? Let me explain how you can examine enemy weaknesses and resistances in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3): How to discover enemy resistances and weaknesses
Figuring out information on your enemies is actually a lot easier than you think. All it takes is a press of a button. How you examine enemy resistances and weaknesses in Baldur’s Gate 3 is by hovering over an enemy and pressing the ‘T’ key.
No matter who or what it is, if you press this key, it will inspect whatever you’re highlighting. Sometimes, you can press ‘T’ over an underlined word on a menu to find out what it means. This is a good tool for players who may not understand D&D terminology. Resistance means when they receive that damage, the number is halved. But if they’re weak to it, the damage is doubled. It’s even useful for highlighting objects for their information, like food or weapons!
But when it comes to enemy information, pressing this key while hovering over them will present you with a lovely information screen. Typically, in D&D, you can’t just outright ask the Dungeon Master what the enemy’s Armor Class or resistances are. But in Baldur’s Gate 3, you can figure this stuff out a little easier.

You get all the information you need on this pop-up. You’ll see their portrait, AC level, their Ability stats, and even Conditions. Under that, you’ll be able to read their resistances, which also shows their weaknesses. Take the image above for an example. It seems as though this skeleton has practically no weaknesses, and all the icons show the resistances. The blue arrow pointing up demonstrates the resistance, but if it’s a red arrow pointing down, that’s a weakness.
If you hover over one of the icons, it’ll tell you which type of damage it resists. It also explains in further detail how damage is halved from either magical or non-magical attacks. Remember to use this tool more often during Baldur’s Gate 3 combat, so you can plan your attacks better!
