Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: How to evolve Alolan Sandshrew in The Indigo Disk

Before you get to evolve your Alolan Sandshrew, there are a couple of things you need to take into account. First of all, only Pokémon Violet owners will be able to encounter and catch Alolan Sandshrew in the wild. If you have Pokémon Scarlet, you will have to get an Alolan Sandshrew through trading — you get to find Alolan Vulpix instead — so be sure to have a friend who plays Violet!

Second of all, you will need to collect an Ice Stone to be able to evolve your Alolan Sandshrew into an Alolan Sandslash. Finally, we need to head to a very cold area of the map to find all of these, so prepare your boots and a jacket, it is about to get cold.

Alolan Sandshrew is a pretty common find at the Blueberry Academy’s Terrarium. That cold area that I mentioned is the Snowy Polar Biome, which will house Ice, Rock, Ground, Flying, and even Steel types, making it the perfect area for an Alolan Sandshrew. Just be careful when you explore the area since they will often camouflage themselves pretty well with their surroundings.

Regarding the Ice Stone, you have some options. You can just walk across the whole Snowy Polar to pick up some if you are feeling lucky — which will sometimes be the case — or you can head back to Glaseado Mountains in Paldea and either explore further or get an Ice Stone as a reward for completing the Snow Slope Run minigame.

Use the Ice Stone with your Alolan Sandshrew and it will automatically evolve into an Alolan Sandslash. Be sure to make the best of it and its Snow Cloak ability.
