Sometimes first-person mode is nice for crafting items and working at your base, but third-person mode is better for exploration and combat.

Nightingale: How to toggle third-person mode

Sometimes you just want to get a good look at your character in the survival world you’re living in. You can enter third-person mode in Nightingale by pressing “F5” on your keyboard. This will toggle third-person mode on and off if you hit it a second time.

It’s instant, and it’s easy! I find third-person mode better for facing enemies in combat since I find it easier to see them and their health bar from this viewpoint. It’s also nice to traverse the Realm using this mode, as I can get a better view of where I’m going.

But first-person mode is how I most often play Nightingale. It’s a lot easier to open chests, explore tight areas, and hang out at my base. You can also easily see the items in your hands, which means you won’t have to constantly look to your hotbar to remember what you’re holding.

As another side tip, if you want to take nice photos without the UI being in the way, press F4, which is to the left of F5. No matter if you’re in first or third-person mode, you can toggle off the UI and get a nice scenic shot of your screen. And in the third-person perspective, it gives you a great look at your character and what you’re wearing.

There are many things about Nightingale that you still may not know about, such as how to split item stacks. That’s something I struggled to figure out as well.
