Diablo 4: How to earn rewards with Red Dust in PvP

There are plenty of interesting things to do in Diablo 4, especially if you’ve already beat the campaign. One of these activities you can partake in, no matter if you’ve finished the story or are simply bored, is PvP fighting. In Diablo 4, you can’t just PvP fight anywhere in Sanctuary. Instead, you have to go to two specific areas, which are the Fields of Hatred. One is in Kehjistan, the other in the Dry Steppes.

Once you stumble upon these lands, you’ll notice they’re red on the map. You can find a town in both areas which will introduce you to a new type of currency. Enemies and players, once defeated in battle, can drop Shards of Hatred. They’re also available through Baleful Chests found in the area.

In town, there are plenty of cosmetics and rewards to buy with something called Red Dust. But how do you convert Shards of Hatred to Red Dust? Do you see those Alters of Extraction around the Fields of Hatred? Once you collect some Shards of Hatred, you can convert them into Red Dust by interacting with these Alters of Extraction. Then, for a short amount of time, it thrusts you into a PvE battle against hoards of enemies.

Any player within the area will know once someone has activated an Alter. If you’ve activated PvP mode, players can enter the Alter area and try to kill you as well. You can certainly earn Shards of Hatred and Red Dust without activating PvP mode, but what’s the fun in that? If you’re interested in activating it, you can do so by Bloodmarking yourself in the Action Wheel by pressing ‘E’.
