Most live service games have a Public Test Build (PTB) version of their games. These builds act as testing grounds for developers, so they can see if the new features implemented can work. In Dead by Daylight’s PTB, you’re able to test out new features like cross-progression, new metas of characters, and much more. It basically acts as a preview of what’s to come and could help you get the advantage over many other players. If you want to get early access to the game, then read this guide on how to download the PTB (Public Test Build) for Dead by Daylight.
Dead by Daylight: How to download the Public Test Build (PTB)
To download the Public Test Build for Dead by Daylight you must first own the game on Steam. This means, if you bought Dead by Daylight on Epic, Microsoft, or any other online storefront, you won’t be able to download the PTB.
Live service games will have their PTB as a separate download which can be accessed anytime. However, for Dead by Daylight’s PTB, you can only download it three weeks prior to a new chapter. This is because, in every chapter released, there’s a new killer or survivor. For example, alongside a new chapter dropping later this summer, you’ll get to play as the legendary actor Nicolas Cage. Dead by Daylight’s PTB for this chapter will take place a few weeks before it’s fully released.
To download Dead by Daylight’s Public Test Build, open up Steam and head to your library. Search for Dead by Daylight and right-click it. Once you right-click the game, a menu will pop up with a few options. Click the Properties Tab, this should open a new window. On the left panel, there will be another set of options, look for the Beta selection. After you’ve clicked it, the Beta page will load and ask you to select an option from the drop-down menu. There should be two options to pick from: None and the Public Test Build. Upon clicking the selection and exiting the window, Dead By Daylight’s PTB should automatically download.
Dead by Daylight is available now via Steam.
