Baldur’s Gate 3 presents players with a world that at first may seem rather limited. However, that area is packed with secrets and it soon expands to an underground region known as the Underdark. Depending on how you approach, your journey may be halted by a mysterious defense system at the Selunite Outpost. Here is our guide telling you how to disable the Eyes of Selune in the Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 – how to disable the Eyes of Selune in the Underdark
The Underdark has numerous entry points scattered about the overworld. If you’re having trouble finding one, check out our guide on how to get to the Underdark. Follow those instructions and you will reach the Selunite Outpost. There, you can approach a portcullis, where your presence prompts a Minotaur enemy to rush you. However, powerful Arcane beams fry it to a crisp. They’ll do the same thing to you, if you let them.
To disable the Eyes of Selune, hit the nearby Moonstone with a projectile shot from a long-range weapon. The Moonstone hovers in the air over the statue at the center of the chamber. It sends a beam of light downward that powers the Eyes of Selune on the opposite side of the high stone wall.
To hit the Moonstone, climb the stairs along the left or right side of the main corridor. Then you can access your projectile shot and aim where it should hit. The Moonstone has only 1HP, meaning a single shot will eliminate it. You will then inspire Shadowheart by accomplishing the secret Acolyte: Shatter the Moon objective.
When I first visited the area, I was reluctant to shatter the stone. I worried more monsters might rush me, or that it might turn its energy my way. However, no such disaster resulted. In fact, it seems to be the safest of available solutions. I had also tried exiting the area by jumping along some rocks on the chamber’s west side, but I came across some petrified drow and then a monster soon wiped out my party. If your levels are low, definitely start by shattering the Moonstone.
