How to defeat Zoe and Grizzbolt in Palworld

Your first challenge awaits. Are you ready?

In Palworld, the tutorial missions will instruct you to take on the first Rayne Syndicate Tower, where Zoe and Grizzbolt await, a pair of powerful foes. Here is everything you need to know to take them down.

Preparing for Zoe and Grizzbolt in Palworld

When being told to take on the first Rayne Syndicate Tower in Palworld, I had imagined I’d need to be pretty strong. The good news is that you don’t need to be at a higher level than level 11 to beat them. As this is a timed fight, you may want to be a little stronger so the fight isn’t so down to the wire as mine was, though.

Grizzbolt is an electric-type Pal and has 30,550 health. You’ll want to take in Pals with ground-type attacks to deal good damage, but it’s not necessary.

For this fight, I would recommend your Pals be level 15, although, again, it is winnable as low as level 11.

Daedream Team In Palworld

My dream team would be two Gummoss’ and two Daedreams with the Daedream harness built. Gummoss’ perform fantastically against Grizzbolt and the Daedreams will provide excellent support. For additional firepower, I would recommend a Tanzee with the Assault Rifle ability, as that deals a lot of damage very quickly. Alternatively, you can have a third Daedream or a third Gumoss.

You can find these Pals close to the Rayne Syndicate Tower, just do a little exploring and you’ll find these Pals before long. Note that Daedreams spawn at night.

For yourself, I would strongly recommend that you use the Three Shot Bow or the Crossbow, and to have 100 arrows at the ready, if you prefer to use ranged combat for the whole fight. Have the Metal Spear equipped in case you run out of arrows. Make sure to have the Pelt Armor equipped with the Shield, as well as the Feathered Hair Band.

You can easily level up in the early game by mass-catching Pals. You’ll get an EXP bonus for the first ten of any type of Pal collected. My advice would be to keep following the tutorial missions and then catch as many local Pals as possible.

The Pals in your team should be sufficiently leveled simply exploring and engaging in combat encounters, as they all get EXP when you do. If you need to level any of them up, just take them with you when capturing Pals. The level difference between them and the Pals you catch shouldn’t be too far apart, so they should level up decently. If not, head into a low-level dungeon and clear it. That should do it. You can find these dungeons by keeping an eye open for cave entrances.

Remember, these are all minimum requirements. Naturally, you could level up to level 50, and then take on the boss, if you wanted. But, I’d suggest doing this as soon as you can. Even just to get rid of the tutorial mission.

With all of that equipment ready, and your selection of Pals, you can confidently dive into combat.

Fighting Zoe and Grizzbolt in Palworld

When you’re ready, approach the Rayne Syndicate Tower. Up to three other players can join you, although it won’t be necessary for this fight. You will only have ten minutes in there to defeat Zoe and Grizzbolt. Enter the Tower and prepare yourself.

Zoe and Grizzbolt have an array of attacks you’ll need to be mindful of. The game doesn’t provide names for their attacks as far as I could tell, so I came up with some names myself.

Zoe’s Dual Electric Orb Bombardment – this attack will have Zoe rapidly shooting two electric orbs at a time. You can simply dodge or even out-walk them.

Electric Orb Wave – Grizzbolt will unleash many electric orbs at a time that will spread across a wide cone. Simply dodge through or around them.

Electric Slam – Grizzbolt will unleash a small but powerful wave of electricity that will damage anything immediately close to it. Make sure to keep your distance when fighting.

Electric Claw Pounce – Grizzbolt will keep leaping in the air and crushing you or your Pal. This is a devastating attack, so make sure your dodges are well-timed to avoid receiving harsh damage. It may be wise to withdraw your Pal if it’s being targeted.

Electric Beam – Grizzbolt will pause momentarily, and a red beam will point at a target, unleashing a powerful attack seconds later. If this is targeted toward one of your Pals, just withdraw them to avoid all the damage. If it targets you, hide behind one of the many columns in the arena.

Now that you’re familiar with how to avoid all of Zoe and Grizzbolt’s attacks, all there is to do is unleash some damage of your own.

Flamethrower Against Boss In Palworld
My first attempt was not perfectly optimized, but the Foxpark flamethrower ability was mighty useful anyway.

If you’ve brought in any Pal with a gun ability, like Tanzee, then use that first to deal a great deal of damage. You can keep bringing this Pal out just for its ability when it cools down, to punish the boss incrementally.

For the rest of the fight, use your Gumoss’ and your ranged weapon to keep harassing the boss. If your Pal is about to receive a damaging attack, withdraw them and summon them somewhere else. Your Daedreams next to you will keep shooting the boss to provide extra damage.

If your shield gets depleted, hide behind a pillar and allow it to recharge before stepping out again. Your Pal will do just fine against the boss.

Rinse and repeat, and before you know it, Zoe and Grizzbolt will be defeated. Well done!
