How to beat Bloat King in Remnant 2

How to defeat the Bloat King in Remnant 2

Dare you to lick it.

Remnant 2 can be kind of gross sometimes. The multiple worlds you will be expected to traverse vary from beautiful glades to horrifying sewers. Either way, you’re going to be expected to murder almost everything in each of them. This is okay, though, because you’re doing it to rescue the multiverse, and most of them are pretty gross. One in particular stuck in my mind as horrific. The Bloat King in Remnant 2 is exactly what it sounds like, and here’s how to beat it.

How to beat Bloat King in Remnant 2

Once you get to the end of the Great Swewers section of Losomn, the stinking pits finally put you up against a giant ball of sewer fat collected together from all the years of showering bodies above. Shooting the thing is a mercy, in all honesty. However, the fight can be a tricky one as it is based above a maze of platforms, and you’re going to have your hands full.

Navigating the maze

Keep your eye out for the many ledges around the arena. You don’t want to fall off them. Below are electrocuting enemies that will seek you out as soon as you are off the ledges. I found rolling as fast as I could to the nearest ladder saved my skin. It is tricky to keep your aim up at the Bloat King in the sky while knowing where your feet are, so check your location a lot.

You will notice things dropping from Bloat King as it moves around the Remnant 2 map. These are ammo and goodies. However, they will often drop into the pit, so you may have to jump down and retrieve them. Roll like the devil.

Bloat King phase 1

Initially, the Bloat King will leave itself vulnerable to heavy attack by displaying its orange underside. Get some damage with effects on this if you can before it releases its power orb. These guys will seek you out and try to shock you. It’s annoying, but I found that, due to its slow movement, I could jump around the ledges away from it. Try to ignore it if you can while focusing fire on Bloat King. If you struggle to keep your distance, they can be dispatched. This will leave you with a little time to bury bullets into the Blob.

As you dance around the maze, Bloat Kind will fire a huge beam of energy at you. This can be rolled through with no damage and is quite slow-moving for a Remnant 2 boss. I recommend waiting till it is over before opening fire again.

Bloat King phase 2

Here comes phase 2 once you have whittled away its health to half. Two orbs are now floating around, and Bloat King is pissed. Thankfully, now you’re familiar with the movement of the Blob, and you have memorized the platform locations, right?

Bloat King is a sponge, so there is little chance you will have time to whittle down completely its health away without having to kill the two orbs. Get rid of them if they are an annoyance and focus fire.
