How to defeat blue shield enemies in Star Wars Outlaws

Well, have you noticed the shields are still up?

Your red Plasma Blaster shots won’t do anything against the blue shields that enemies use. To temporarily disable enemies’ blue shields, you need to use the Ion Blaster shots.

You unlock this at the start of the New Tricks mission, which is about four hours into the game, give or take (this is around the same time that you can claim your DLC bonus content).

Once you have the Ion Module unlocked on your Blaster, you can switch your shot type mid-combat. The first Ion Module you get fires a burst of three shots. To disable a blue shield, switch to the Ion Blaster and try to land all three shots on the blue shield.

Depending on distance and enemy type, you may need more or fewer shots to disable the shield, but I recommend always trying to land all three shots to disable the shield. If you’re a really good shot, you don’t need to switch to the Ion Module at all. You can simply aim for the small opening behind the blue shield where the enemy’s head is and shoot that with your Plasma Blaster.

Once the blue shield is down, switch to your Plasma Blaster and eliminate the enemy. If the blue shield comes back up, repeat this process. If you’re surrounded by enemies and a blue shield enemy is closing in, I recommend retreating to cover to give yourself more space to thin the enemies out.

One last tip: Use the Ion Blaster on droids. Though you can eliminate droids with Plasma shots, Ion shots on droids work extremely well to drop them quickly and stun everyone near it. With this figured out, you can focus on increasing your health by finding Ironweave and Coarseweave.
