Although you may think a simple Cure Wounds could help, there are other ways to go about curing Petrification. Here’s what to do in this dire situation.

Baldur’s Gate 3: How to cure Petrification Status Effect

If someone ends up casting Flesh to Stone on your party member, or you face another type of deadly attack that inflicts Petrification, there are only so few cures to this. How you can cure Petrification in Baldur’s Gate 3 is with the Greater Restoration spell or Basilisk Oil.

Greater Restoration is probably the easiest way to get rid of Petrification, although it’s a level five spell and only available to Clerics, Bards, and Druids. By level nine, Shadowheart can use this spell to save another party member from being Petrified. This spell can also remove the effects of Stun, Cursed, or Charm.

Curing with Greater Restoration

But what if you don’t currently have a party member with Greater Restoration? In this case, you should look to using Basilisk Oil. This is a consumable that’s rare to find, but there are a few known locations where you can get some:

  • Inside Apothecary’s Cellar in the Blighted Village.
  • In the secret basement of the Arcane Tower on a table.
  • In a chest behind spiderwebs in the Underdark (northeast of the Arcane Tower).
  • Purchase from Boney at the Circus of the Last Days in Rivington.

If you happen to have Basilisk Oil, you can throw this potion at the Petrified character to turn them back to normal. But if you don’t have any Basilisk Oil, I recommend you get some from those locations listed above. It’ll come in handy when you least expect it.
