How to cross-save in Honkai: Star Rail

Pick up where you left off in a flash.

Honkai: Star Rail is HoYoverse’s free-to-play sci-fi RPG available on PC, mobile, and now PS5! Just like HoYoverse’s other huge game, Genshin Impact, you can play through the same account on separate devices. Having said that, those planning to do so may wonder if and how they can carry save data from one version to another. Fortunately, Honkai: Star Rail has cross-save functionality built right in, and this guide will show you how to make use of it.

What to do to cross-save in Honkai: Star Rail

Honkai: Star Rail can seamlessly allow you to play on the same account through all three devices. Let’s say you started playing it on PC, and want to try it on your phone. Using the cross-save feature fortunately only takes a handful of simple steps.

  1. Turn on the game on your PC.
  2. Log into your HoYoverse/Facebook/Twitter account and select your region.
  3. After playing the game for however long, close it and open it on your iOS device.
  4. Log into the same account and region.

If you entered all of your information correctly, you will successfully transfer all of the progress you made before. Keep in mind that the cross-save functionality in Honkai: Star Rail does have a restriction in place. Namely, the game does not allow you to play through one account on multiple consoles at the same time.

How to enable cross-save on PS5

Now that Honkai: Star Rail is available on PS5 as well, how difficult is it to cross-save on this account? Luckily, it’s not difficult at all to link your PSN and HoYoverse account for cross-save functionality.

Typically, your PS5 should just give you the option of logging into your HoYoverse account, or creating one. But just to make sure your HoYoverse account is linked to your PSN, here’s what you can do.

  • Select Account Settings on whatever device you’re playing on besides PS5.
  • Head to the User Center.
  • Select Linked Accounts and link your PSN if it isn’t already.

Your HoYoverse account may already be already linked to your PSN because of Genshin Impact. Unlinking it would be a bad idea, so don’t try that. Despite me not having played Honkai: Star Rail yet on my PS5, I can play the game through the PSN account that’s already linked.
