With the new Mistlands update came the ability to take your battle in Valheim to the mystical. Magic items including armor pieces and staffs can be constructed with the right tools and resources. It is a long and arduous process reserved for late-game play, but knowing how to craft magic items in Valheim will leave your enemies deep in the ground.
Magic runs on Eitr, a stamina bar that is fueled by Eitr-rich foods. The process of crafting will also rely on finding and refining this in-game item.
How to craft magic items in Valheim
For this process to even become possible, the Mistalnds biome will have to be found and conquered. As a quick tip, this misty area can be made much more navigable with a Wisp to light your way. These can be captured using a Wisp Fountain. Along with your traveling lightbulb, it is advisable to be geared up to the eyeballs, the enemies in this area are tough.
Collect Yggdrasil Sap
- The first step is to find yourself a Dvergr dwelling. These towers and bases can be seen all through the Mistlands. Thankfully, the little guys that live within are friendly unless provoked. You can even kite particularly annoying enemies to them and team up.
- Inside the dwellings, you need to look for their crates. If you’re lucky, there will be a Dvergr Extractor in one of them. Be aware: smashing their crates and stealing their things is seen as an act of aggression. Prepare to fight the munchkins.
- Once you have collected a Dvergr Extractor, head back to your closest workbench. Build a Sap Extractor made for your size hands using your newly acquired Dvergr Extractor, 5x Black Metal, and 10x Yggdrasil Wood.
- Head back to the Mistlands and tap into a Yggdrasil root. These are huge glowing roots that pulse with energy.
Refine the Sap
- To turn this sap into the Refined Eitr you’ll need to craft magic items in Valheim, you first need a Sap Refinery. This is built using 10x Yggdrasil Wood, 20x Black Marble, 5x Black Metal, 5x Black Core, and 3x Sap.
- You’re going to need to do some mining in Mistlands for the marble and metal and a trip into the Infested Mines for the Cores.
- Add Soft Tissue to the top of the refinery and Sap to the bottom and presto, you’ve got pure Refined Eitr on your hands. Be careful, it’s potent.
Craft a Galdr Table
- Then, once you have all the necessary resources it’s time to craft the Galdr Table. It requires 20x Yggdrasil Wood, 10x Black Metal, 5x Black Core, and 5x Refined Eitr.
- After you have crafted the table, it can be upgraded with a Rune Table.
