How to craft an Obliterator in Valheim

How to craft an Obliterator in Valheim

Don't just bin it, Obliterate it.

Tidy home, tidy mind, as they say. Nobody wants their Viking longhouse full of old battle trophies, discarded materials, and broken tools. Knowing how to craft an Obliterator in Valheim is essential for any self-respecting Norseman. Building this trash compactor not only cleans up your environment but also produces coal to boot, a material you will undoubtedly burn through (get it?).

Since the Hearth and Home update, the Obliterator has been made available, no doubt due to players complaining about the inevitable build-up of discarded items. It is possible to delete all drops with a command prompt, but that is cheating and can’t be done in multiplayer.

To construct the Obliterator you will need a few items that become available after defeating the elder.

  • Thunder Stone – This can be purchased from Haldor the merchant. He will appear in the Black Forest after defeating the Elder. It only costs 50 gold, so make sure you come with the correct change.
  • 8x Iron – Easily smelted in a Smelter from Ore or Scrap Iron.
  • 4x Copper – Smelted from Ore or Scraps.

Once you have the correct materials you can build your Obliterator anywhere you like. It doesn’t require a roof and takes no damage from rain.

Oblitorater use and conversion

When you first throw some unwanted materials into the Obliterator, you’ll notice Thor’s hammer does the obliterating. A lighting blast will come shooting from the sky to turn your unwanted goods into coal. You should have common sense enough to know that standing near it is going to turn you to toast. It is also worth bearing in mind that it can destroy chests and structures.

Conversion

As a rule, conversion is at 10 to 1. You put 10 things in you get one coal out. This has a few exceptions listed below.

  • Trophies – These are 1 to 1. Even boss trophies.
  • Arrows – Turn 20 arrows to one coal.
  • Wood – 5x wood is one coal.
