How to craft a Wood Foundation in The Front

A Wood Foundation is likely to be one of the first items you make in The Front. It’s vital for kicking off your settlement building and provides a nice flat surface to put other items like Crafting Tables and Sleeping Bags. But since crafting in The Front can be a little tricky at first, here’s a simple guide to help you craft a Wood Foundation.

The Front: How to craft a Wood Foundation

For starters, you’ll need to actually unlock the Wood Foundation recipe. If you’re wondering why it’s not showing up anywhere in your crafting menu at the moment, it’s because you need to unlock it over in the Tech tree first. Open up your menu and go into the Tech tab, which is the third icon from the left. Here, you’ll see a ton of entries in a lot of tabs. But the one we need is the Structures tab, which is third on the list.

Here, you’ll see a bunch of nodes you can unlock. Luckily, the Wood Foundation is only the second one to unlock in The Front right next to the Territory Flag. All you need to do is click on it to unlock it and the recipe will now be available in your crafting menu. This recipe comes with a standard Wood Foundation and a 2×2 version. The standard version costs 10 wood and 5 fiber, while the 2×2 variant costs double that. And you’ll also notice that you can make Wood Walls by unlocking the node next to the Wood Foundation.

The Wood Foundation is a cheap item to make in The Front thankfully, and you should have more than enough materials nearby to make plenty of them. Just make sure you put your new build on a nice bit of land with a great view.
