In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, there are two ways to clear most levels: the easy way and the right way (which may require some scavenging). Here is our guide telling you how to completely clear a level in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Completely clearing a level
To clear the typical level in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, you merely have to make it to the end and pull down the flag. To completely clear a level, you need to earn a Wonderful rating at the flag pole, gather any Wonder Seeds, and collect all Flower Coins.
Anything less than a Wonderful rating at the flag pole doesn’t count. The above screenshot shows Mario coming up a bit short. The rating you earn when completing a level depends on how you bring down the flag. You need to hit the top of the pole or you’ll score a lower rating. A lesser performance is enough to let you beat the level, but not to master it. When I beat a tough level, I try to make extra sure I get that ‘Wonderful’ rating and collect any loot so I don’t have to play through it again unless I want to.

Some Wonder Seeds are hidden. When you view a level from the world map, it may show that you can acquire two Wonder Seeds, for instance. However, some levels have hidden exits. They may contain three seeds, which won’t be indicated until you find the alternate exit.
Many stages include three Flower Coins. They’re the large purple coins you can grab, often in out-of-the-way places that put you at risk as you grab them. You need to get all available Flower Coins to truly complete a level. Besides, they’re good for funding future shopping.
Some levels don’t have Flower Coins or flag poles. In those cases, you still will see a green checkmark once you’ve done everything that’s expected of you.
Where is my green checkmark?
If you have truly completed a level, you’ll see a green checkmark like in the screenshot at the very top of this article. It is a faint watermark. If you beat a level and you don’t see that checkmark, you haven’t actually completed it (see the above screenshot).
To see a list of every level you have attempted, press L on the world map. Then press L and R to cycle between worlds. If you don’t see a green checkmark behind a level summary, it most likely means you missed a hidden Wonder Seed. Take another run through that level. Look for a Wonder Seed that may lead to a hidden exit.
