The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom houses a lot of different side quests for you to partake in. These can be small things like fixing a roof, or as grand as a 12 mission long quest chain investigating rumors. One of these is the Whirly Swirly Things side quest, which is given to you by a Korok in the Korok Forest, and tasks you with finding different Whirly Swirly Things throughout Hyrule for Kula to see. Here’s our guide on how to complete Whirly Swirly Things in Tears of the Kingdom.
How to complete Whirly Swirly Things in Tears of the Kingdom
The first step to completing the Whirly Swirly Things quest is to find yourself a whirlpool. Now you can find whirlpools in multiple different locations across Hyrule. Two examples of whirlpools you can find are the ones in the Zora region. That’s in the middle of East Reservoir Lake, and one on the east side of Lake Hylia. You can use any whirlpool to get the photo that you need, so feel free to use one that you find if you know where it is quicker than finding the two listed above. You can see locations of those two I’ve listed in the map below if you do want to find those.
Grab a photo of the whirlpool, which you’ll need to use the Camera module of the Purah Pad to do, and make sure you see a red exclamation mark next to the name tag for whirlpool. This means it’s a quest-related item and you can use that photo to complete the first step of this quest. When you return to Kula, however, Kula will task you with finding a Swirly Whirly sand thing, so let’s head to Gerudo Desert.
The sand Swirly Whirly Things
When you get to Gerudo Desert, the Swirly Whirly Thing you’re going to need to look for is a quicksand pit. These can also be found in multiple locations across the desert, but I personally know of two locations.
One of these is in the bottom right of the Gerudo Desert, next to the Siwakama Shrine, where there are a few of them. You can actually see these from the map if you zoom in enough. The other is the entrance to the Ancient Prison Ruins, which lies in the Palu Wasteland. You can see both of these locations in the map below. Just like the whirlpool though, feel free to use your own quicksand pit here, as any of them work; just make sure that it’s actually a pit and not just running sand, which I mistook for a pit from the sky.
Grab a photo of that quicksand pit, then return to Kula again, to complete the Whirly Swirly Things in Tears of the Kingdom.
