Tears of the Kingdom – how to complete the Simmerstone Springs side quest

So, you figured out how to beat the Fire Temple boss and restore a sense of normalcy to Goron City. However, you’re not done in the region, not if you want to do everything. There is still the Simmerstone Springs side quest to consider.

To complete the Simmerstone Springs side quest, help Kima find the legendary location. He has apparently been searching for it for quite some time and can use your help.

First, you need to find Kima. He stands on a bridge overlooking the main buildings in Goron City. You can recognize him because he is one of the few humans in the area. Talk to him to initiate the Simmerstone Springs side quest.

Kima proposes checking with locals in the Goron Hot Springs area, which you should do. You’ll find that location southeast of Goron City. The road to reach them connects to the high wooden bridge that spans the canyon walls above Goron City. Make your way to the high ground however you like (I climbed straight up a cliff face) and then head southeast.

Soon, you should reach Death Mountain Marker #7 in that direction. The marker sign stands at the edge of the hot springs. As you face the sign, look to the left to find a Goron named Grapp soaking in a shallow pool. Talk to him and ask about Simmerstone Springs when prompted. He reveals the entrance is in Gorko Tunnel, to the southeast. A cave-in has blocked the opening.

Follow the nearby trail past a smaller red sign. An armored Blue Bokoblin patrols it. Past that critter, a Like Like monster spews boulders at you from its perch on a wall. Move just beyond that foe and veer right as you descend toward the south. You’ll reach a group of Bokoblins patrolling with their leader on the low ground. Cross to the hills directly beyond them. Now, watch the rocky hills to your right as you ascend. You’ll finally reach the opening to Gorko Tunnel.

The map image above shows the precise area where you can enter Gorko Tunnel. The location is easy to miss as you approach, but look for the glowing blue creature. You always find them near caves. It will dash off in the direction of the cave when you approach.

Enter the tunnel and proceed along it to find a rock obstruction. Destroy this barrier using stone weapons or (even better) some assistance from Yunobo. Use Vow of Yunobo, Sage of Fire from the Key Items menu to summon him, if he is not already with you. Make sure to also have your Firebreaker armor set equipped. When you destroy the obstruction, you’ll find another one further along the passage. Past it, you’ll find the springs.

When you wade into the springs, Kima appears behind you. A short conversation follows. Then you receive a Silver Rupee as your reward. That completes the side quest.
